I have temporarily rearranged the order of this blog following an interesting and stimulating lecture/discussion at Gimpel Fils last night and also a lecture at the Louise T Blouin Institute on Tuesday.
Both events were dealing with neuroscience and art, a field that has preoccupied me for some time. The CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, the workings of the human mind, the brain were central to my practice between 1996 and 1999. I discontinued the project around ’99, partly as I had reached a point were I realized that to continue, collaboration with a scientist would be essential and by far the most challenging way forward. For a number of reasons I did not pursue this at the time, but would be very interested to do a collaborative project at some point in the future.
MINDGAMES is a more recent offshoot 06/07 (and ongoing) and, if anything, less scientific, amalgamating textbook sources with part autobiographical narrative.
