The paintings are ‘reworks’ of older pieces initially belonging to the CNS series.
In 1996 I was awarded the Abbey Rome scholarship. Although I had a wonderful time in Rome, my time there was slightly overshadowed by a neurological problem that had surfaced before leaving. While I was in Rome I was waiting for the results of the MRI scan, which, when I saw them, not only fascinated and intrigued me, but I also sensed the potential for future works.
The initial series of works ended around ’99, my interest however in neurological matters did not. The more recent MINDGAMES have taken things further in some respects, at times linking emotional trauma with the diagrams of the CNS.
The next step however will have to be a closer involvement with the scientific aspect underlying the work.
